Pretzel Crisp Caramel Apples
It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, and what better way to show your loved than to give an apple. This is not just any apple, but one covered in caramel, Pretzel Crisps, chocolate and any other toppings in your pantry.
The caramel only requires three ingredients and is super easy to make. Just dip your apples in once caramel is cooled, press on toppings and drizzle chocolate if you like. This recipe makes twelve, so you can keep some for yourself! Go ahead, and give teachers something they really deserve.
- 12 large apples
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Pretzel Crisps
- Optional: White or dark chocolate
- Optional: Any candy, nuts, coconut, or other toppings in your cupboard
- Either thick skewers, or popsicle sticks.
Step One: Wash and dry apples. Insert skewer or popsicle into each one and set aside. Combine and stir the sugar ad corn syrup in pot. Turn on medium high and boil while stirring until sugar turns a light golden brown color, about 10 minutes.
Step Two: Remove from stove and allow to cool a bit. Slowly drizzle in heavy cream, a little at a time, whie stirring until fully incorporated. Allow to sit until cool and thick enough.
Step Three: In the meantime, mix some Pretzel Crisps with other ingredients from your pantry. Lay out on a plate lined with parchment paper.
Step Four: Dip in caramel and allows excess to drip off. Then roll in toppings and pace in freezer on a piece of parchment paper for a few minutes to set. If caramel is thin and transparent, then it still needs more time to set before dipping.
Step Five: Once set, serve, or surprise your teacher with the best apple they will ever taste!
