Party Idea: Adult Sweets with Candy Vodka

Candy vodka is a wonderful way to revisit childhood in an adult manner. This makes as a great gift, a colorful touch to any party, and is quite the conversation starter.

Candy infused vodka is not difficult to make.  All you need is a little time, patience and a large container.

Ingredients and Tools

  • candy
  • vodka (top shelf for the faint of heart)
  • a container or jar
  • cheesecloth
  • a sieve or strainer

First, select your vodka. I purchase a less expensive brand. Just keep in mind that if you want a sweet shot without the bite, go for a higher shelf brand.

These are the smaller bottles, 375 ml.

Pour some of the vodka into a mason jar or small container if you desire a nice hint of candy flavor.

If you crave a very sweet drink, then you will need a larger container.

I chose to use watermelon Airheads, green apple Laffy Taffy, Juicy Pear Jelly Bellies, and lime Sour Patch Kids (from left to right).

Purchase about 2 bags of the Laffy Taffy, Sour Patch Kids, and Airheads. They will come with a variety of flavors and colors so you will need to pick your flavor out.

The amount will differ, but after picking out the specific flavors from each bag I counted:

-          13 Airheads

-          18 Laffy Taffy

-          1 heaping cup of Sour Patch Kids

The Jelly Bellies were purchased in a candy store. Begin with:

-about ¾ cup

Add the candy to the vodka. Shake every so often to help the candy dissolve. After a few days, once the candy dissolves, taste to see if you like it. Chances are if you want a very sweet drink you will want to start off with more than the amounts suggested above.

I found that for the very sweet shots, I needed about double the amount of candy above. The Airheads need a little more as the flavor is less intense.

Once the taste is to your preference, strain through a cheesecloth placed in a sieve or strainer.

Pour the vodka through in order to separate any particles or sugary film.

For the lighter infused vodka add to soda water. For the even less intensely infused vodka, you can enjoy with some sprite.

As for those who add more candy, you can simply have yours in shot glasses.

Line the rims with sprinkles, chocolate, or edible glitter.
