Unique Eats to Bring as a Guest for Thanksgiving
The food world has been plastered with recipes for Thanksgiving. It’s easy to pick out a few when hosting, however, I find it a challenge to pick out a dish when attending as a guest.
The turkey, sides, and pies are practically guaranteed to already be on the menu, and you have no clue as to what other guests are brining. Aiming for something that still matches the Thanksgiving theme but with a unique twist, allows you to bring a dish that won’t risk as a repeat and is sure to impress.
An appetizer is always nice to bring because the host/hostess is most likely more busy focusing on the star of the show: the turkey.
The bloomin brie bowl is pretty much a guarantee to please the other guests. Cheese + bread? It’s practically fail proof. The way this is made is different than using the pastry dough and therefore a little more simple for the beginner cook. I would suggest baking it on location, if possible, or right before leaving for the dinner to have it as gooey and melted as possible.
If you like fancy finger foods, then this sweet potato cake is perfect for you to make. Top it off with sour cream and a black bean salsa, and this is one delectable bite.
If you are more drawn to the classic dishes and you would like to bring a side dish, then this is it. Stuffed sweet potatoes. Even if there is already sweet potato being served, it will not look like this. Make one of these for each guest. It looks pretty easy to make too!
If you are still unsure, dessert is always an easy go-to, because you can never have enough desserts! It is unlikely that someone will be toting the same dessert as you if you bring there apple pie caramel apples. It’s combining the goodness of apple pie with caramel apples. These are a perfect conversation starter, and will blow the crowd away.
This is a sweet dip that can work as an appetizer or for dessert. An apple pie dip and Cinnamon Toast Pretzel Crisps would be very fun. If there will be children at your thanksgiving dinner, then this is it!
Caramel apple cheesecake bar? If you plan on making these, then you are officially invited to attend my Thanksgiving.
If you have visited my site then you know I love cupcakes with a twist, and these certainly have one. Top off you sweet potato cupcakes with toasted marshmallow frosting. I love marshmallow.
You could always offer to bring some homemade butter for the bread. Cinnamon honey butter, that is. Trust me, this is addictive.
If you are going to be hanging out with more of a drinking crowd, then try these caramel apple jello shots. I think my mom would be more excited for these than anyone else.
For those who love making decorated cookies, these will bring a tear to everyone’s eyes. Just bring a couple of packs of food markers so the dinner party can write what they are thankful for.
I have a new puppy, so these really intrigued me. When attending the home of dog lovers, it would be very thoughtful to bring some pumpkin dog biscuits. Everyone is so worried about the people, but what about man (and woman’s) best friend?
If you use one of these recipes you are sure to avoid bringing a dish that will already be served by the host/hostess, or other guests. These will impress and delight the entire Thanksgiving dinner party.
